Wherever you are in the world, let's get to work!
Services
(for want of a better term...)
I offer a diverse range of services as an acting coach, scriptwriter, and director. With extensive experience and a deep passion for storytelling, I bring authenticity, creativity, and professionalism to everything I do. I'm here to help... blah, blah, blah... yeah, yeah, yeah, you know the deal. Usual website marketing blurb right? Probably written by AI, yeah? "I'm great, work with me, I'll change your world for the better etc etc"... And actually, what's written above is a good example of what I'm often helping actors, and filmmakers push beyond. It's all perfectly true, but it lacks a certain something. Authenticity perhaps, connection, character, or a sense of believable humanity. Maybe even a level of imperfection. That nuanced, subtle recognition of truth that we rarely think about, but instantly recognise when it's missing.
So here's the real, organic deal. Yes, I have a passion for what I do. Yes, I have a few miles on the clock of experience to draw from. Yes, I LOVE working with like-minded people who want to learn, explore and nail their own creativity. And Yes, I am loyal, supportive, and honest to those who honour me with their trust and art. So... if you want to work with someone who has the same fire and passion in their belly as you have, let's talk.

Coaching
The camera will only accept the TRUTH.

My primary focus as a coach and teacher is acting for the camera, however my approach with all actors is to develop their skills for every role, be it on screen or in a theatre.

My years of experience and research has developed my training to focus on CHARACTER and BEHAVIOUR. Dialogue is meaningless without it. The camera is an intimate art-form. The actor cannot hide from it, nor should they try.

60% – 65% of communication is non-verbal. Real people, living real lives, in the real world do not have a script.

Humans, like all other species on the planet, are very intuitive. We ‘read’ body language and gestures all the time. Often this is subconscious, but it’s there. When an actor relies too heavily on dialogue and too little on how emotion, character and behaviour affect body language, gesturing and vocal sound, the performance lacks TRUTH. This can often be evident in actors who may be inexperienced, nervous, resistant, or who lack the training to find the truth of behaviour in performance.

In all my teaching I help actors make choices based on an understanding of REAL human emotion and behaviour. From there come strong, interesting and engaging choices that bring characters to life.

I offer 1-2-1 coaching, audition / casting prep sessions, as well as paired / small group classes. Classes are online or face-to-face.

Drop me a line and I'll be happy to discuss all options and fees.

My approach to direction is to ensure all the structure and staffing is in place first. Then I can comfortably turn my attention to the creative work of a director. I take a collaborative approach to working with both cast and crew, but when decisions need to be made I'm able to make them.

I have valuable experience of balancing the need for serving the creative vision of a production with the need to deliver to time and budget. Always a challenge, but one I love. Like a puzzle, or even opposing magnets, at times it's never easy and compromises may need to be made. But I love collaborating with a team of like-minded creatives to produce the best outcome possible.
